During the election, on October 15, 2015 for non-permanent members of the UN Security Council for the 2016-2017 biennium Ukraine and Senegal made a mutual support.
On November 7, 2016, in the framework of the 71th session of the UN General Assembly, the meeting of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin met his Senegalese counterpart Mr. Mankeur Ndiaye. The ministers discussed the perspectives of cooperation between both delegations within the Security Council and UN initiatives, including the draft resolution of Ukraine to the Third Committee of the UN General Assembly “Situation of human rights in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol (Ukraine)” as well as political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affaires of the two states.
On October 16, 2017, Ukrane and Senegal made a mutual support for the membership in the UN Human Right Counsil for the period of 2018-2020.
In 2019, during the 41st session of the UN Human Rights Council, the Senegal delegation abstained from the adoption of the resolution "Cooperation with and assistance to Ukraine in the field of human rights".
