On April 2, 2019, the inauguration ceremony of the President of Senegal, Macky Sall who won the first round of the presidential election on February 24, 2019 took place.
The ceremony was attended by presidents of a number of African countries: Roch Kaboré (Burkina Faso), Jorge Carlos Fonseca (Cape Verde), Denis Sassou Nguesso (Republic of Congo), Félix Tshisekedi (Democratic Republic of Congo), Alassane Ouattara (Côte d’Ivoire), Adama Barrow (The Gambia), Alpha Condé (Guinea), Jose Mario Vaz (Guinea-Bissau), Mrs. Sahle-Work Zewde (Ethiopia), George Weah (Liberia), Andry Rajoelina (Madagascar), Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta (Mali), Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz (Mauritania), Mahamadou Issoufou (Niger), Muhammadu Buhari (Nigeria), Paul Kagame (Rwanda), Julius Maada Bio (Sierra Leone), Faure Gnassingbé (Togo), and by the Prime Minister of Gabon Julien Nkoghe Bekale.
In addition, the ceremony was attended by delegations and special envoys from the United States, France, Germany, the Republic of Korea, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Portugal, Kosovo, Morocco, Turkey, Qatar, Egypt, Ghana, Sudan ECOWAS, UEMOA and the African Union
In his speech M.Sall assured the audience in the commitment to the ideas of peace, stability and African integration, called for an open and constructive dialogue with all the political forces, highlighted the achievements during his previous cadence (in particular, in the construction of infrastructure and energy), outlined priorities for the next period of his governance, among which are strengthening the system of vocational education, protecting women’s rights, improving living conditions and protecting the environment.
As a part of the invited diplomatic corps, the Charge d’Affaires of Ukraine in Senegal Mr. Anton Barabulia took part in the inauguration ceremony.
