The consular registration of the children who left Ukraine because of the war

The law defines that a person who escorts a child leaving Ukraine must contact a consular section during one day after arrival to a final destination point. 

We recommend immediately after arrival to a place of stay inform relevant Embassy/Consular section.

After, as soon as possible, you should submit to an Embassy or to a Consular section your documents which is necessary for a child consular registration. 

In case of the replacement of a child, escorting person must inform the Emabassy or the Consular office where a child was registered.

If a new child's address  belongs to a consular region of another Embassy of Ukraine, escorting person should contact with such Embassy or Consular section concerning a temporary consular registration of a child at a new address.

Consular office protects the rights and interests of the citizens of Ukraine.

Is it obligatory?

Yes. In the defined by the law cases an adult escorting abroad a child who is a citizen of Ukraine must contact a ukrainian embassy or a ukrainian consular section for temporary consular registration.

Which children does it apply for?

It is obligatory for a temporary consular registration of :

• a child who before leaving abroad lived in any  facility for children 24 hours a day (whether they have a status of a child-orphan or a child deprived of parental care);
• a child  dwelled by familles of foster mentors;
• a child handed over for further custody, care, dwelled by adoptive families or by orhanage familly type;
• a child who left abroad escorted by one of the parents  (without written consent of the other parent), or escorted by a grandmother, a grandfather, a sister, a stepmother, a stepfather or the other persons who was authorized by the only one of the parents of a child.
